What is child inclusive mediation?
Mediators can help separated parents discuss and decide the arrangements for their children. Whilst it is parents’ responsibility to make decisions in respect of their children, it is increasingly recognised that children should have a voice about the upcoming changes in their lives.
Child Inclusive Mediation (CIM) is an opportunity for children to have their voice heard in the mediation process. This helps them feel listened to, valued and respected. It is an opportunity to get their thoughts and feelings heard and enables parents to take their children’s opinions into account before coming to a final agreement.
To find out more about CIM, listen to Caitlin Jenkins speak with Alison Bull, a mediator qualified to meet with children in mediation about how CIM works and the advantages for both the child and their parents.
